Mass Intentions

The practice of requesting a Mass to be offered for loved ones, living or deceased, is a beautiful and wonderful part of our Catholic tradition.  Here at St. Peter & St. Paul, there are numerous requests for scheduling Mass intentions.  To allow as many parishioners and friends the opportunity to schedule Masses, we have implemented new policies, which are put forth to help accomplish this goal.

Please read the following guidelines carefully:

  1. We will accept no more than five (5) intentions per household per calendar year.  We pledge to fulfill these intentions during the 2023 year.
  2. Requests will be honored in the order the form is received.
  3. A suggested donation of $10.00 is to accompany each Mass request.
  4. Please note the following guidelines for Mass requests:
    1. Mass intentions cannot be scheduled during the Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and All Souls nine (9) day Novenas.
    2. One Mass every Sunday must be scheduled for the intentions of our parishioners known as “Pro Populo” (for the People,) as required by Canon Law and diocesan statute.
  5. Mass requests will be granted as close to the requested date and time as possible.  If it is not possible to comply with the primary request, the next closest date and time will be scheduled.  We will do our best to keep the intentions close to the requested date.  We will mail a copy of the form with the updates to you.  PLEASE print your contact information CLEARLY! (if submitting a printed copy)  There may be a reason that requires us to cancel a Mass already scheduled.  If that is necessary, we will contact you to schedule another date.
  6. Please print names clearly and legibly on the intention form so we can enter the names correctly.  Lengthy intentions cannot be published in the bulletin and will be edited for the sake of brevity.
  7. Since the purpose of publishing the intention in the bulletin is to notify the family and friends of the intentions, we suggest the omission of middle initials, titles, etc.  Please indicate if the person for whom the Mass is requested is living or (†) deceased.
  8. Mass intentions will not be rescheduled if a verbal announcement was not heard during Mass.  Even though the intention was not verbally announced, know that the Mass has been offered for that particular intention.  The intention is a spiritual act and its verbal publication neither adds nor subtracts from its validity.
  9. If you are anticipating a special family event and plan to schedule a Mass intention for that event, i.e., a Silver or Golden Wedding Anniversary or a birthday,  please complete the form as well.
